Delta Dental of Tennessee has launched its annual holiday campaign, pledging $75,000 in donations to children’s hospitals across the state. The funding will be distributed based on public input, with Tennesseans encouraged to choose the hospital they want to receive additional funds from Delta Dental. The campaign will run until December 25th and can be accessed online and through social media platforms.
This year’s holiday card, designed by Avery Lynch, a teenager from Mt. Juliet, features a cheerful penguin. Avery’s journey with glaucoma began when she noticed difficulties in seeing the classroom board even from the front row. Her parents promptly took her to an eye doctor, who referred her to a specialist at Vanderbilt Eye Institute. After confirming her diagnosis of early onset glaucoma through an MRI, Avery embarked on a treatment plan that involves eye drops and wearing contacts. Despite the challenges, she remains an active player in competitive volleyball and visits her specialist twice a year for check-ups.
Avery’s parents, in their efforts to give back and raise awareness about the importance of preventive care, have chosen to share their family’s story. They have collaborated with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to document patient and family video stories. Jimmy Lynch, Avery’s father and a video producer, appreciates the support provided by the hospital and values the care his daughter has received.
Jeff Ballard, president of Delta Dental of Tennessee, expressed gratitude to Avery and her family for sharing their experiences. He stressed the significance of regular preventive care and check-ups in the early detection and treatment of diseases like glaucoma. Ballard urges individuals to maintain routine visits to their healthcare providers to identify warning signs and improve long-term health outcomes.
To participate in the holiday campaign, individuals can visit Delta Dental of Tennessee’s website or follow them on social media. Interactions such as likes, comments, and shares on Delta Dental’s posts featuring each of the seven children’s hospitals will contribute to the public input totals. Delta Dental of Tennessee is the largest independent dental benefits carrier in the state, providing coverage to 1.4 million individuals. Their network includes over 154,000 dental providers across 443,000 locations.
