In celebration of National Dental Hygiene Month, Delta Dental has released key insights from its 2023 State of America’s Oral Health and Wellness Report. The report emphasizes the importance of preventive oral healthcare and reveals that adults in the United States prioritize oral hygiene to avoid unexpected dental costs and prevent common issues such as cavities and gum disease.
The findings of the report highlight that both adults and children understand the significance of maintaining good oral health and follow recommended oral health guidelines at home. This demonstrates their awareness of the impact of oral health on their overall well-being.
Dr. Joseph Dill, the Chief Dental Officer of Delta Dental Plans Association, commends adults and children for their commitment to positive oral health care through regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits. Dr. Dill believes that oral health is essential for everyone’s overall health and well-being.
The report also sheds light on the reasons behind dental visits, revealing that they are driven by both preventive measures and personal appearance. This indicates that individuals not only prioritize oral health for health reasons but also for cosmetic purposes.
The 2023 State of America’s Oral Health and Wellness Report is based on research conducted by Material Holdings, LLC, a global insights and strategy consultancy, and commissioned by Delta Dental Plans Association. The research was carried out through email invitations and online surveys between January 6 and January 23, 2023, with a sample that accurately represents the U.S. population of adults and parents with children aged 12 and under.
Delta Dental aims to improve the overall oral health and well-being of individuals across the nation by promoting the importance of preventive oral care and good dental hygiene practices. The report serves as a valuable resource for understanding the current state of oral health in America and the behaviors and attitudes of adults and children towards oral hygiene.
