This year, the society announced that it will be awarding a total of $138,000 to dental education schools and programs. Out of this amount, $108,000 will be given as scholarships, benefiting deserving students who are pursuing a career in dentistry.
Since its establishment in 1986, the Hinman Dental Society has been actively involved in granting scholarships to deserving students. The recipients of these scholarships are carefully selected by the deans and program directors of each school, ensuring that the financial support goes to those who truly deserve it. This year, the society’s board of trustees visited the Dental College of Georgia in August to celebrate and support the incoming senior class. As a token of appreciation for the society’s members and attendees at the 2023 Hinman Dental Meeting, each senior student at the Dental College of Georgia will receive a $500 scholarship.

The society’s trustees will be granting an additional $36,000 in scholarships to other dental, hygiene, and assisting schools in the Southeast region. Moreover, the society will be contributing $30,000 to support the 28th Hinman Student Research Symposium at the University of Tennessee.
